Hi Everyone. I had the honor of writing a guest post about rules and how they affect the enjoyment of your life. Are there rules that are holding you back? Have you used creative solutions to bypass those rules?

An example in my life is that I have low endurance for standardized tests. I was planning on going to graduate school, but the GMAT (for business schools) was so long that I was fried by the end. I found out that most schools didn't care about the writing portion (which was graded separately), but it was 2 hours in the beginning of the test.

Rather than spending all my energy on a portion that schools didn't care about, I only used half the time allowed for the writing portion to get to the multiple choice portion faster. Since I had more energy and focus for the part that mattered, I saw my score rise 100 points (out of 800) over practice tests that I took where I spent the full time for the essays. This really helped me get into business school and get to where I wanted to go.

Interesting trick, Daryl. Unfortunately I don't have any snazzy tricks to share. Smiley

That is a great example of how to re-prioritize your tasks. And some outside-the-box thinking got you there, good job.
