From the blog, a simple app, in my mind, is an application that provides a bare minimum of features for the task at hand. I shared a few that I felt matched this description. I'm hoping you all have ones you would like to throw into the mix here.

I am going to have to vote for Smultron for my text editor of choice. I agree totally with Fluidapp for website apps.

Notepad, the most undervalued Windows application.

While I like the *idea* of the simple apps, I don't really do much to warrant that sort of approach. I *live* in Photoshop and InDesign. If I'm doing a quick bit of code, sure I'll use TextEdit or TextWrangler.

While there's nothing "simple" about Quicksilver, it bears mentioning...as it does the work of about 15 other apps, and can really streamline your workflow.

On the Open Source/Linux front, I'll vote for Gnome-Do (a QS-like app), Gedit (a wonderfully simple text editor), and Revelation (the simplest, most easy-to-use password manager out there!).
