A lot of times I'll have a bunch of projects that are of equal importance to me and require about the same level of time and energy. I get stuck trying to figure out which one to tackle first. How do you go about solving that problem?

My own simple solution? Eliminate the things I can't do at the moment, and then just start at the top of my projects list and work my way down. Pretty crude, but it gets the job done.

I give priority to the projects or tasks which others are waiting on, or which most immediately benefit others. Sometimes this even involves doing something clearly less important to me first, but looking at the overall picture everyone is better off if I get that item done. First of all you can ask yourself "What is the potential payoff?" for each project, and filter some more.

Then, besides time and energy, you can take into consideration the opportunity cost. More  here.
