In my post about setting aside time to pursue creative efforts, I noted how hard it is to carve out time for it despite it's importance. Like Nathan, I want to know if you've been able to make creative time a priority. If so, how'd you do it?

This is something that I definitely need to work on, now that we are settled in to our new home and all.

I put it on my schedule...and I really, really try to stick with it. It's tough sometimes, but I do have added incentive in that I'm required to do a certain amount of creative stuff for my master's degree work and have it evaluated each week.

If you can be creative collaboratively, I also recommend setting up a weekly time to meet with a friend to jam or otherwise work together on a creative project. This is a great way for some people get the creative juices flowing, and you might be less likely to break an engagement with someone else.

In a sense, it's like exercise. It's been years since I've run on a regular basis, and I don't doubt it is related to the fact that I don't have a running buddy. Running seems to be much more fun when you have somebody to do it with.

I have started setting an appointment with myself on Sunday mornings, way early before the Lovely Bride awakens, to wrap-up my weekly review with some creative ponderings. I have come up with some interesting ideas that will be going into my "Initiatives" context for further thought and evaluation.

As we get to know more people in our new hometown I will be looking for someone that I can meet with for this kind of activity, for increased creativity and accountability.
